I’m Right Here …

I’m a wannabe poet, so I don’t claim to be great. But I do love to take my feelings and put them into words. The other week I did this as I thought about the joy a Cardinal brings.

The last couple of years have been really hard for so many of us. But amidst all the sadness in our hard days there is a presence of Light and Beauty. The gorgeous Cardinal surely fits in that category. I’ve had several people tell me that cardinals bring them such joy at a time when they need it the most. Some days I will see the afternoon sun hitting these birds and the vibrant color it gives off is breath-taking. It takes my mind off my troubles if only for a moment. This is what I call a “God-wink” or God’s way of saying, I’m Right Here.

There are so many of these little “winks” or gifts from God all around us just for the seeing. If I had to say what I want people to take away from my art, that would be it - that magical beauty that is everywhere if we will just take notice. I hope you will see at least one of these gifts today.

My painting of this Cardinal will be leaving for its new home in Louisiana today. I hope it will bring its new owner much joy.

I’m Right Here 

When grief overtakes me, 

suddenly you appear.

Making me feel lighter, 

and calming heavy fears.

I watch you as you glide, 

so effortless and carefree.

My soul longs for this, 

cries out, take me! take me!

I hear you through open windows,

 listen as you sing.

Your song is like sunshine,

 filling up my being.

It seems like your only purpose

 is especially for me.

For so often when I’m blue,

 it’s your pretty red self I see.
