Dance of the Herons

$400.00

Another picture of Tina’s that really took my breath was this one of two herons in a mating dance. The composition was perfection, and I tried to do it justice. Dance of the Herons is a 12X16 Oil Painting on Gessobord.

(This piece and a couple others in this collection are painted in layers instead of my normal wet on wet technique. I lay an umber layer to tone the gessobord and establish lights and darks. After that dries, I lay a gray layer to further establish contrast and values. This takes a few days to dry and then finally I add the color layer. The rich detail that comes together here is from this process.)

We just came back from an amazing time in Ireland. There is beauty around every corner. While there, I kept the thinking about what I could paint when I got back in the studio. So much inspiration and I’m hoping to bring a tiny portion of what
